YouTuber reviewed cute cheap makeup under RM12 from AliExpress – are they too good to be true?

Cute makeup products? We’ve seen it all from gummy bear beauty blenders and blushes with a heart-shaped stamp to Sanrio-themed makeup products.

Trust us, we know the drill. It’s almost impossible to control ourselves when we see an adorable makeup product online or on shelves. Well, the only thing that could hold us back is probably the price tag, but with cute and cheap makeup products from AliExpress, there won’t be any second thoughts lingering.

However, cute products don’t necessarily mean they’re great or impressive. Yes, it’s seriously affordable, but you don’t want to buy a bunch of these cute cheap makeup and end up tossing them away.

If you’ve been wondering whether some of them are deserving of your time and money, YouTuber Edward Avila did all the legwork for us and tried out a bunch of cute, cheap makeup from Aliexpress.

Let’s take a deeper look at the products he reviewed and if they’re worth buying!

Art Value Teddy Bear Concealer Keychains

This teddy bear keychain concealer comes in three different shades: a Salmon Color that’s a bit orangey and peachy to conceal dark eye circles; a Nude Beige to cover pimples or for a uniform skin tone; and a Skin Color for those with lighter skin tones.

Although the concealer appears to be sheer, it’s said to cover blemishes well, is buildable, and has a hydrating formula. However, we’re not quite sure about the hydration factor as the ingredients aren’t disclosed.

According to Edward, the concealer does feel moisturising, covers his pores well, and gives off a satin finish. He did mention that his skin takes on makeup a lot better after including 100% pure organic jojoba oil in his skincare routine, so that could also be a reason for the amazing results from this keychain concealer.

He also commented on how little product he was able to get from the concealer and its mini doe foot applicator. In fact, when he opened up the bottle (body of the teddy bear), he found that it wasn’t filled up with concealer.

This product’s definitely cute and cheap, and it’s worth giving it a go for the price. After you’re done using it, you can even reuse the keychain and fill it up with your own favourite concealer like Edward did.

Art Value White Bear Mirror Lip Glaze Keychains

Next, also from Art Value, is the same adorable teddy bear keychain but as a lippie. It’s described as a “mirror lip” because of how glossy it can look on your puckers.

As for how it rates on Edward’s charts, he said that the shade #02 he used is the perfect Spring warm colour and looks amazing. However, he was very put off by the nasty smell and commented that the colour swatches shown on AliExpress weren’t accurate.

Plus, the lip product also leaves a stain even after wiping. Edward suggests using the teddy bear lipstick, wiping it off and putting a lip balm over it for a natural lip look.

Art Value Red Bear Matte Lip Mud Keychains

There’s also a matte version of the teddy bear lip keychain, which seems to perform way better than the lip glosses and is one of Edward’s top picks.

It comes in six velvety shades, from deep reds and nudes to browns. Compared to the lip glazes Edward had a happier reaction to the lip muds and seemed amazed with the texture and colour payoff (especially shade 05).

Gege Bear Refreshing Crystal Lip Gel

Also shaped like an adorable bear and another one of Edward’s top picks, this lip gel is advertised with lip swatches that look like gorgeous K-beauty jelly lips.

The packaging is seriously adorable in pastel colours and would look like little bear decor on your vanity table. But maybe that’s all they should be – decor – because the lip gel accentuated Edward’s lip lines instead of giving a smooth glossy look.

He also wasn’t a fan of the applicator, which made it harder to put on the lip product.

Susu Sky Astronaut Lip Mud Keychains

Similar to the teddy bear lip keychains, this one comes in the form of a baby pink or baby blue astronaut, great for all the explorers out there.

Word is that the shade 01 has a faint chocolate smell and has a lovely rosy milk tea shade.

However, just like all the other mini lip products from AliExpress that Edward tried, he said that the lip applicators aren’t great at all.

Cappuvini Ice Clear Liquid Lipstick Gloss

Based on the pictures and swatches, you’d think that this liquid lipstick can naturally create the perfect jelly lip. Well, according to Edward’s review, it’s more clear than pigmented.

He also added that out of the two lipstick glosses he bought, one of them smelled rotten.

These icy and glacier-like lippies did, however, grow on him a little but still wished they had more colour and lasted longer on the lips.

We’d say it works and is worth the risk, but only if you blend out a little concealer over your lips to get a pigmented glossy look. Or if you prefer lighter and more sheer lippies, this one’s for you!

Cappuvini Ice Clear Liquid Lipstick Gloss retails for RM7.37 instead of RM11.14, at the time of writing, at AliExpress.

Sweet Mint 12 Colors Heart Eyeshadow Palette

If you find this product familiar – you’re right. This one’s basically a copy of Kbeauty brand Colorgram’s Pin Point Eyeshadow Palette, which costs RM81.03 on Shopee and S$28.90 in Guardian Singapore stores, but with different colours.

From Edward’s swatches, you can tell that pigment isn’t an issue with either Colorgram or Sweet Mint, but Colorgram’s eyeshadow was easier to apply and slid onto the skin rather effortlessly.

According to Edward, after trying out the same eye look with both palettes on each eye for a better comparison, Colorgram’s eyeshadow was more pigmented and of a better quality. Still, he felt the margin of difference wasn’t huge and was impressed with the result.

One sizeable difference he caught was how Cologram’s glitter eyeshadows had a more reflective shimmer.

Cappuvini Liquid Pearl Shimmering Shadow

Reminiscent of teardrop, or a png kueh (Teochew savoury dumplings), this liquid eyeshadow is definitely worth the purchase.

You might find some trouble handling it because of how short and stubby the applicator is, but its ultra-thin brush or paddle brush makes it extremely easy to create glittery creases or add shine to the inner corner of your eyes.

Plus, with a shimmer that’s sheer yet powerful, this one’s a keeper and perfect for festival or concert glams. And at such a low price, you can get all six shades which go from pearlescent purple to warm gold.

Lameila Ultra-fine Small Brush Head Mascara

This waterproof and sweatproof mascara is said to have a long curling formula that easily enlarges your eyes with the illusion of false eyelashes.

Its brush is only 2.2mm, making it really easy to coat every strand of lash, especially the lower lashes. The brand also claims that this mascara is made with pure plant ingredients that care for the eyelashes.

Although Edward shared how it gives a super pretty “idol lash” look, the mascara’s formula does weigh down the lashes a little and gets flaky at the end of the day.

Liangnishi Double-headed Eyelash Glue Mascara

Also one of Edward’s top picks, this cheap makeup product makes applying false lashes seamless and effortless.

For those who apply individual false lashes daily, this could save you a lot of time and lessen the stress or hassle of carefully dipping them into glue.

The glue lets your falsies stick immediately, dries quickly, and doesn’t leave any traces of glue. It also comes off easily and won’t end up ripping off your natural lashes.
