How to achieve Angelababy’s “double braid”

Whoever said that two ponytails are too childish for women over 25 are lying to you. Just look at how adorable and youthful Angelababy looks sporting this trendy hairstyle. Xiao Hong Shu user 小萝卜heidi shows us the simple way to ace this sweet hair-do.

Step 1: Section your hair into two

Divide your hair into two sections as if you’re tying two low pigtails. Since you’ll be working on one side at a time, you can tie one section up to keep everything tidy.

Step 2: Split the ponytail

Take one of the sections ad split it into two sections again: top and bottom. Tie the bottom section up first to make things neater and easier for you.

Step 3: Braid the top section

Braid the entire section of hair and secure it.

Step 4: Adjust the bottom section

Pick up the bottom section you’ve previously separated and tie it with an elastic brand about a finger’s length away from your head.

Step 5: Fluff the braid

To give this hair-do a more youthful and playful twist, fluff the braid up by pushing the elastic band you’ve secured it with upwards.

This will squish the braid together and create more volume. You can also pull at the braids to make it more stretched out and fluffier.

Step 6: Loop the top and bottom section together

To secure both sections together, create a small gap in the loop closest to end of the braid. Then, slot the bottom section of hair through the gap you’ve created.

Pull on both sections tightly before tying them together with a rubber band.

Step 7: Repeat on the other side

Repeat steps one to six on the other side and you’re done with the “double braid” hairstyle!

How to achieve Angelababy’s “princess braided hair”

Looking to sport a hair-do that strikes the balance between sweet and elegant? Xiao Hong Shu user @Zhouzhou has with an easy tutorial on how to achieve the “princess hair” that Angelababy often wears.

Step 1: Create soft curls with a curling iron

Preheat your curling iron and start wrapping your locks loosely around the tool. Make sure that the curls aren’t too tight so you can achieve soft wavy tresses like this celebrity’s.

If you’re an amateur with the curling iron, we recommend you to bundle your hairs into sections and securing them with a hair tie. Afterwards, you can comfortably curl your hair without other sections getting in the way.

Step 2: Secure the main body of the hairstyle

From the centre of your hair line, grab a bundle of hair backwards and braid it down. The segment you’ve just sectioned off should look poufy on the crown of your head. Adjust it if it doesn’t look voluminous.

Step 3: Connect two side sections to the middle section

Grab sections of hair from both sides of the poufy part you have created and attach them to the centre braid.

Step 4: Attach the bow accessory

While this step is optional, if you want your look to be just like Angelababy’s signature, attach a bow accessory at the top of your head.

The ribbon should sit right above where your braid has started. By adding this accessory, your entire hair-do will receive a lifted effect and your tresses on the crown of your head will look thicker and fuller.
