If you’ve ever stumbled onto RED (a.k.a China’s Instagram), you will realise how different Chinese makeup aesthetics are compared to Korea or Japan.

Forget the innocent gradient lips or puppy eye look, China is all about glamorous and flashy styles like donning on a fierce winged eyeliner or a smokier eyeshadow. But what may be the reigning trend to conquer them all is the “blurred lip”.

This lip trend is the complete opposite of using a lip liner – it creates blurred edges while still keeping the overall look quite defined and neat. For this reason, many of us can’t seem to master the look as it takes a lot of skill to not end up looking like the Joker.

However, what caught our eye on RED this past weekend may be the solution to our woes.

Black, sleek, and absolutely gorgeous, Yves Saint Laurent Beauty’s Rouge Pur Couture The Slim Velvet Radical Lipstick is the latest product on the radar that has got all the Chinese influencers squealing.

Delivering pigmented, semi-matte colour, this YSL lippie has a creamy texture that glides on like butter and feels extremely featherlight on the lips.

Like its sister – the Rouge Pur Couture The Slim Matte Lipstick – The Slim Velvet Radical Lipstick also has a non-drying formula that creates a blurry effect and stays put all day.

The best part? It provides the most luxurious velvet effect in 12 stunning couture-inspired shades that effortlessly creates the “blurred lip” effect while making your pout feel plush and expensive.

Shade 302 “Red Bean Paste” has been a favourite among users, with many raving about its pretty reddish tint that complements Asian skin tones very well.

Shade 307 “Chestnut Red Brown” is also popular for its vibrant red shade that brightens your overall complexion.

Unfortunately, Rouge Pur Couture The Slim Velvet Radical Lipstick has not reached Malaysia’s shores yet, but we hear that it will launch sometime in October or November in Singapore as part of YSL Beauty’s Fall 2021 collection, so it may arrive in Malaysia around the same period.

Watch this space, because we’ll definitely keep you posted on its official release date!
