Jung So-min is one of the most talked-about female leads in K-drama, thanks to her success in Alchemy of Souls.

While she’s known for her acting, many also admire her dedication to fitness and health. From shedding 10kg over 18 months after gaining weight during the filming of Playful Kiss to maintaining her slim figure of 44kg for over a decade, she has shown that slow and steady truly wins the race.
Her secret? A mix of healthy habits, mindful eating, and consistent effort to stay fit. Read on to score her tips!

While Jung is often complimented for her petite face, she candidly shared that her lower body has been a source of stress. At one point, she even tried acupuncture treatments at a traditional Korean clinic to slim her legs, but she admitted they didn’t really help.
Her advice? Skip unnecessary procedures for the sake of your health. Instead, she focuses on consistent movement and stretching to prevent her body from becoming fatigued.
Jung emphasises the importance of reducing leg swelling and releasing muscle tension as key steps to maintaining shapely legs.

Rather than extreme dieting, Jung believes that healthy habits are more important. She follows a low-sodium diet and ensures at least one meal a day includes Korean food. Her dinner, however, is kept light and fibre-rich.
Living in a house with a garden, Jung grows her own vegetables, which she incorporates into her meals. From steaming leaves of Siberian ginseng to picking fresh blueberries, lettuce, cucumbers, and tomatoes, she relishes the flavours of her homegrown produce.
This adds not only flavour but also meaning to her meals, she says.
Taking on Sports Climbing

Over the past year, Jung has taken up sports climbing as a hobby, which she started with her fellow cast-mates during the play Shakespeare in Love.
Inspired by co-star Jung Hae-in’s enviable forearm strength, she has thrown herself into the sport with enthusiasm, even earning her first calluses.
Sports climbing, a favourite among celebrities like Seolhyun, Girls’ Generation’s Yoona, and BIBI, engages muscles in the abs, back, and glutes, areas often overlooked in everyday activities.
This full-body workout not only improves flexibility but also boosts metabolism—an ideal combo for staying fit.

In an interview, Jung So-min shared her thoughts on weight loss, saying, “I don’t recommend methods like surgery to lose weight, because it ruins your health. Being healthy is much more important than becoming prettier.”
Jung So-min credits yoga as a key part of her fitness routine and mental well-being. She enjoys the calming effects it has on her mind while also helping her improve flexibility and core strength.
For Jung, yoga isn’t just exercise — it’s her way of staying centred amidst a busy schedule.
