Glass skin is “shockingly still trending”, at least through the upcoming year, according to Larry.

The Glass Skin look is all about achieving a flawlessly smooth, even-toned, and glossy complexion that gives the illusion of perfection, akin to glass.

Larry’s observation adds an intriguing twist to the discussion: it seems that the Southsast Asian makeup style and our perception of “skin-like” don’t quite align. In this style, the skin tends to be one to two shades lighter than the natural face color, and for some, even three to five shades lighter.

As we embark on the “new year, new me” phase, it’s important to recognise that achieving this flawless base doesn’t require caking on thick layers of foundation. Instead, we’re aiming for a fresh and natural glow!

Larry said, “I see radiant skin that is subtly glowing. It’s a hint of even skin tone without looking excessively applied.”

And while this “skin-like finish” isn’t exactly groundbreaking, as Larry reminded us, the technique matters just as much.

“With modernisation and improvements in cosmetic science, a lot of makeup should be skin-like depending on the context it is used at and has been happening since mid-2016 due to vast formulation improvement,” he emphasised.

“I don’t see it being heavy makeup. Even though it’s smokey, it’s more about a soft, sultry vibe, highlighting the skin texture and that healthy glow,” explained Peter.

Peter emphasises the importance of skincare preparation before delving into the world of makeup. He believes that a solid foundation starts with taking care of your skin.

When it comes to foundation, Peter prefers a light application.

“However, if my client has skin concerns, I gradually build up the coverage,” he shared.

Larry chimed in, expressing his thoughts, “Clean girl makeup has been a bit overdone.” He highlighted that the intention behind it is to enhance your natural beauty, but some individuals tend to go a bit overboard, missing the essence of it.

Furthermore, he senses a shift away from the clean and natural beauty scene. He opined that advancements in cosmetic science are being made, and the attempts to create fear around it are losing their impact.
