After 15 years of partnership, Urban Decay and Skindinavia have officially ended their long-standing relationship, marking the close of a chapter for one of beauty’s most beloved setting sprays.

The announcement came straight from Skindinavia via Instagram on 28 July (USA time), where the brand reflected on what it called “the most successful collaboration in makeup.” The post paid tribute to a relationship that began in 2010 and was “built on trust, sealed with a handshake, and carried on for 15 wonderful years.”

From its debut, All Nighter Setting Spray carved out a cult following for being the first spray to cool makeup instead of simply locking it in place, a feature made possible by Skindinavia’s patented technology (US patent 9198840). But according to Skindinavia, Urban Decay’s freshly reformulated version will no longer include those trademark cooling ingredients.

Urban Decay began hinting at the updated formula on Instagram from 24 July (USA time), unveiling it in full a day later. Promising 24-hour wear, a finer mist, temperature-cooling technology, and a new scent, the brand boldly declared: “The best got even better”. The new iteration launches on Urban Decay’s website on 31 July, with wider availability at Sephora and Ulta Beauty to follow.

In its post, Skindinavia assured fans that its original formula isn’t going anywhere: “Most brands cannot stand up to big companies. But Skindinavia will… It will only change when you decide it should, not us.”

Founded by Allen Goldman in 2005, Skindinavia remains a mainstay for makeup artists and beauty pros who swear by long-lasting finishes. With both formulas now co-existing in the beauty market, makeup lovers face a choice: remain loyal to the original or see if Urban Decay’s reimagined spray lives up to the legacy. What’s your choice?
